The 9x19mm Parabellum, often called "9mm", is one of the foundations of the history of modern weaponry. This calibre of cartridge, designed for semi-automatic pistols, was created in 1902 and made famous in 1908, when it became the regulation diameter used by the German army. It would soon become the most widespread handgun calibre in the world, used by the vast majority of armies and the FBI, who abandoned it at the turn of the 2000s, only to reverse their decision in 2014. Several tests, held in conjunction with ballistics experts, show that agents shoot more accurately with a 9mm. 
Deliberately left untreated due to the nature of its conception and creation, this installation enlists well-worn tools of destruction. More than 800 9mm-calibre bullets are needed for its formation. Plexiglas, concrete, and marble are the successive evolutions of the work. Following a strict and inflexible grid pattern, the treatment of the slab emerges as a brutal presence in the material. Besides this harshness, and in contrast with the immediate impression, the installation is defined by serenity and finesse.
