Almost fifty years ago, the American space programme, whose aim was to send man to the Moon, was in full swing. To this end, NASA began to implement its Apollo programme in the 1960s. The mission seemed simple: send a team of three men to the Moon, allow two of them to land, and then bring them all home safe and sound. One by one, several missions were launched to build a rocket that could make this American dream come true. Among them, the Apollo 9 mission was designed to test the LEM lunar landing module. Meanwhile, Apollo 10 acted as a dress rehearsal. 
Finally, on 16 July 1969, the Apollo 11 space capsule lifted off, with the historic mission to carry men to the Moon. On 20 July of the same year, Neil Armstrong became the first man to set foot on the Moon. One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. 
In order to recreate the topology of the surface of the Moon, it was necessary to obtain digital files from the NASA archives. The physical properties of lunar soil are the result of gradual disintegration of rocks, caused by continuous bombardment from meteorites over millions of years. The three surfaces, recreated as mural installations, correspond precisely to areas of lunar earth.
